Which one do I start with?
If you only want one, The Ready Household. It's the whole house in the order things fail, and it's the one I'd hand a woman starting from nothing. If it's the garden and the hens you're thinking about, A Quarter Acre tells you what they really give before you plant a row or buy a chick. If it's the road out that worries you, Five Minutes to Leave. If you'd rather be done with it, the collection is all three and the pantry book for $27.
What am I actually getting?
PDFs. You pay once, and within a minute there's an email with the download. Read them on a phone, a tablet or a laptop, or print the pages you want on ordinary letter paper at home. The type is set big, 14 point, for reading glasses and lamplight. The page at the end of every chapter is made to print and pin up, and the pantry book page prints as many times as the shelf needs.
Is this a prepper thing?
It's a pantry. Two weeks of what your house already eats, a month of water on a cool floor, and a little put by every week, the way my mamaw did it. Nothing in these books asks you to buy a bunker, a year of buckets or a pile of gear. Most of the steps cost under $30, every one has the price beside it and roughly when I paid it, and the first ones cost nothing at all.
I live in an apartment. Is any of this for me?
Yes. My girl Hannah is in an apartment in the city two hours off, and she's in every book: a closet with fourteen gallons on the floor, a backpack under the bed because she has stairs and no truck, and two tomato plants in a bucket on the balcony. The shelf is the plan wherever you live. The well and the hens are mine; the shelf, the water and the bag are anybody's.
Do the books teach canning?
No. I put up my garden the way the tested book says, and I learned it in a class from the county extension office. Canning is a class, not a chapter, and there's no method, time or pressure on these pages. The jars chapter is about the shelf the jars sit on, the month on the lid, and the class to take.
What if it's not for me?

Is any of this medical advice, or the order to stay or go?
No. I say what I've done at my house and what it cost. The nurse line and 911 do the medical, the well man does the well, and your county's alert, the National Weather Service and the sheriff come first, every time. When they say leave, you leave.
